Description

How XS015 is used

Swedish care providers record a KVÅ code for each procedure they carry out and report it, together with the patient’s ICD-10 diagnosis codes, to the National Patient Register. The diagnosis says what the patient has; the KVÅ code says what was done. Medical codes have two letters and three digits and cover investigations, treatments and other care that is not surgery.

Based on Klassifikation av vårdåtgärder (KVÅ), developed by Socialstyrelsen and managed by E-hälsomyndigheten, the Swedish eHealth Agency, since 1 June 2026. This page is a reference, not coding advice; follow the national coding instructions when you report.
